Small Ceramic Frida Skull

This Frida Skull comes from San BartoloCoyotepec, a town in the state of Oaxaca known for its black clay pottery.

The day of the dead is a Mexican celebration that honors the dead. 
The Pre-Hispanic cultures share the belief that there is an animistic and immortal entity that gives conscience to the human being and that after death they continue their way in the world of the dead and live through the memory of their loved ones.

Combining the visage of the great artist Frida Kahlo with Day of the Dead imagery. A coiled bun of hair with roses rests on the skull, evoking one of Frida's iconic hairstyles. Each piece showcases a unique hand incised designs!
